At the beginning of the outbreak of pandemic in China, teachers and students of our university, in the thick of united prevention and control effortsreceived tremendous support and heart-warming encouragement from our sister universities overseas who sent their words of comfort and solidarity through letters, e-mails, WeChat and other forms of communication. Currently, the domestic pandemic has been effectively controlled and the situation of prevention and control continues to improve, but the spread of the pandemic has intensified in many other countries around the world, which has pulled at the heartstrings of Chinese people. In return for the kindness we received, CQUST President Yin Huachuan sent his condolences and good wishes by letters to more than 10 sisteruniversities in America, Finland, Holland, Poland, South Korea, Mexico, etc..
In the letters, Mr Yin , out of an abundance of care for sister universities , extended his sincere condolences and best wishes to the teachers and students. Yin Huachuan said that in this difficult period, Chongqing University of Science and Technology would make joint efforts with the sisteruniversities in their endeavor to protect the health and well-being of teachers and students. CQUST stands willing and ready to provide support and help to the sister universities if necessary, and unite with people around the world in our common endeavor to overcome difficulties and conquer the pandemic as soon as possible.
Although the distance is long, our hearts are close to each other. The sisteruniversities expressed their deep sympathy for and encouragement to our school, and were highly commendatory in their assessment of our national efforts in the fight againstthe pandemic.
Changwon National University in South Korea is the first international sister university of CQUST. At the beginning of the pandemic, our school received a warm letter in which Changwon expressed its sincere supports to us. President Lee Haoyoung wrote that China and South Korea are adjacentneighbors withclose ties in terms of economy, trade and culture. He empathized with Chinese people who were suffering from the pandemic, and he was willing to lend a friendly hand to students from China and other countries.
University of Illinois at Chicago also expressed its appreciation of and confidence in Chinese people for their unity in the war against the pandemic.UIC stated that ithas always put the lives and health of its students first, and proactive prevention and control measures had been taken. Currently, our master’s program with UIC is operating smoothly, and by means of online teaching the University ensures that international students can carry out their learningtasks smoothly. UIC also expressed the hope to continue the smooth educational exchange with CQUST and overcome the difficulties together with us.
Professor Dra. Sara Ladrón de Guevara, the President of of Veracruzana University in Mexico wrote in response to conveyhis appreciation of President Yin’s expression of support. In the letter, the President said that their school would adopt the best decision-making and academic strategies to combat the pandemic, and he hoped that the whole world would turn around the situation as soon as possible in order to continue our common pursuits for the betterment of our economy, communities and humanity in general. . As a good friend and long-term partner of CQUST in Latin America, the Presidentalso expressed his expectation for new cooperation and exchanges between our two great institutions as soon as possible.
In addition, we also received messages of support and solidarity from other overseas sister universities and institutions like American Association of State Colleges and Universities, Hanze Hogeschool Groningen University of Applied Sciences in Holland, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Yeungnam University in South Korea, Kyungpook National University in South Korea, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, National Central University in Taiwan, etc.
