On the morning of November 28th, Zou Zhigang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, gave a lecture titled "Research on Photocatalytic Materials -- Opportunities and Challenges" to the teachers and students of our school.Nearly 400 people attended the lecture:Professor Zhou Yong of Nanjing University, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Mr. Li Delong, Party Secretary of Chongqing University of Science and Technology, Mr. Yin Huachuan, President of Chongqing University of Science and Technology, all present school leaders, members of the Party Committee and Standing Committee, heads of relevant departments, heads of the School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, representative teachers and students. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Shi Jinliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.
At the meeting, academician Zou Zhigang introduced the research and progress of photocatalytic materials and shared the latest research content and achievements of his academic team. Zou proposed the necessity and importance of developing new energy and materials based on objective demands such as energy shortage and environmental problems caused by energy consumption. He pointed out that the new energy must be clean and higher than the density of existing energy in order to gradually replace the existing energy sources, so the international community has reached a consensus on building a hydrogen energy society, and photocatalytic solar energy conversion and utilization is of great significance to optimize the energy structure of China. Then, Academician Zou introduced the technology of hydrogen production, photocatalytic principle, design and preparation of photocatalytic materials, as well as the application and bright prospect of photocatalytic phenomenon in clean energy, environmental purification, tumor treatment, aerospace and other fields. In the end, Academician Zou said that opportunities and challenges coexist in the preparation of hydrogen energy, and he hoped that student of CQUST can study diligently to help the development of hydrogen energy in China.
