On the morning of May 19, CQUST Auditorium was graced by the appointment ceremony of Yang Yongbin, a member of the Chinese Academy of engineering, who also gave an academic presentation to an audience of over 200 people, including all CQUST leaders on campus, heads of functional departments, and representatives of professors and students of the School of Architectural Engineering. The appointment ceremony and presentation was hosted by Shi Jinliang, deputy secretary of the CQUST Party Committee and vice president.

At the appointment ceremony, President Yin Huachuan presented the letter of appointment to Professor Yang as a distinguished professor of our university. Professor Yang said in his speech that he was very pleased to be employed by CQUST, and he introduced the future work plans in scientific research, teacher training and platform building.The professor noted that he is pleased to work together with all CQUST faculty and students to fulfill the role in the academic development and talent training of the university.

Professor Yang, an expert in structural engineering and mechanics, is a member of the Chinese Academy of engineering, the EU Academy of Sciences and a foreign member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He is currently the honorary president of the school of civil engineering of Chongqing University, the director of the Accreditation Committee of IEET, the editor in chief of the SCI journal IJSSD and the chairman of both APACM and EASEC. He has long been engaged in structural engineering research with mechanics as the core. His research areas include structural nonlinear theory, vehicle-bridge interaction dynamics theory and analytical method of wave propagation for train-induced vibrations. He has published 4 English monographs overseas, more than 200 SCI journal papers, over 270 conference papers at home and abroad, more than 110 kinds of reports, h-index = 52, and his papers have been cited more than 9800 times.
