[By Department of Publicity and School of Humanities and Arts] In the evening of August 27 local time, the 45th World Skills Competition wrapped up in Kazan, Russia. Li Zhenqin, a student of Grade 2015 majoring in visual communication design (character image design), from the School of Humanities and Arts of our university, overcame difficulties in the beauty event of the 45th World Skills Competition, fought hard and won a silver medal with excellent results. This is another honor in this project that our student won after Liang Yingying, a student of Grade 2014 majoring in visual communication design, who won a silver medal in the beauty event of the 44th World Skills Competition.

In this competition, the Chinese delegation won 16 gold medals, 14 silver medals, 5 bronze medals and 17 merit awards, ranking first in the gold medal list, medal list and the total score of the team, with a new breakthrough compared with the previous one. Among them, the participants trained in Chongqing have won 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 2 copper medals and 3 merit medals. The number of gold medals and awards have refreshed the record of 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 4 merit medals in the last competition, and continue to maintain the champion in the province level with world competition results.
In April this year, Li Zhenqin won a gold medal with excellent results in beauty event of the 2019 Global Skills Challenge held in Melbourne, Australia, and won a "National Best Award" with the largest score difference in 23 events participated by the Chinese team. Li Zhenqin, through systematic and standardized training in the national training base of the beauty project of the World Skills Competition, constantly makes breakthrough with full support of the expert team leader, coach, base and our university, winning honor for China and Chongqing.
The university has attached great importance to and made full preparation for the competition. Shi Jinliang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president, led coaches and players from the national base of painting and decoration event and the Chongqing base of graphic technology event to the scene of the 45th World Skills Competition, advised and saluted the participants, encouraged them to adjust their mentality, calmly take up the competition and strive to achieve excellent results. Vice president Wu Song has successively visited the World Skills Competition project bases at Lianglukou and Huangjueping. He also greeted Li Zhenqin and others who were all in their power to prepare for the 45th World Skills Competition, and held a discussion with the project leaders. He hoped that all would cherish their time, enhance their training, compete at their highest level and show their strength.
In recent years, the university has made active response to the call of the country to cultivate the "craftsmanship" of pursuing excellence, adhered to the "three combinations and three promotions", and strove to create practical and skillful talents represented by "craftsmen of great country". Taking the opportunity of participating the World Skills Competition, the School of Humanities and Arts selects outstanding students for teaching practice through the national bases of beauty event, paint and decoration events and graphic technology events, so as to achieve the purpose of promoting training and learning through competition, enrich the content and carrier of practical teaching, and enhance its effectiveness.
